Don M. Richard was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 30, 1943; admitted to Bar, 1968, Louisiana, U.S. District Court, Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, U.S. Court of Appeal Fifth Circuit, U.S. Supreme Court. After his graduation from law school, Mr. Richard served as law clerk to Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, Frederick J.R. Heebe for two years. Since serving with Judge Heebe as his law clerk in federal court, Mr. Richard has been involved exclusively in the litigation of civil, personal injury, admiralty, criminal, sex abuse and commercial cases.

Mr. Richard served as an Assistant United States Attorney from 1970-1977. During that time with the United States Attorney’s office he devoted his time exclusively to prosecution of white collar criminal cases including numerous cases of public corruption, political corruption and the interstate transportation of pornography.

Since leaving public service, Mr. Richard has served on the Board of the Federal Bar Association in the Eastern District of Louisiana as Secretary, Vice President and President. Mr. Richard is one of the charter members of the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit and since its inception in 1984 has served as the Treasurer of the Bar Association. Mr. Richard also served as the President of the Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit in 1992-93. The Bar Association of the Fifth Federal Circuit sponsored an appellate advocacy seminar for 21 years. During that entire time, Mr. Richard served as an integral part of the planning and development of the seminar as well as a lecturer at many of the annual seminars.

Mr. Richard has received the highest rating awarded by the Martindale-Hubbel Law Directory (AV).

 Mr. Richard has served as a permanent deacon in the Roman Catholic Church since 1976 serving the parish of St. Catherine of Siena in Metairie, Louisiana. Mr. Richard has also served as general counsel for the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, the third largest theological institution in the world and continues to act as its general counsel.

 Mr. Richard’s practice areas include extensive litigation experience in sexual abuse; sexual harassment; anti-trust; commercial litigation; personal injury; criminal law; and appellate practice.
