Managing Partner Lawrence E. Chehardy appointed Tax Commission Chairman

Mr. Chehardy, who served as Jefferson Parish Assessor for 34 years, was appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards for this very important role, which shows the Governor's explicit trust and belief in Mr. Chehardy for this tremendous responsibility.

"I look forward to serving Louisiana taxpayers fairly and working alongside Governor Edwards and his administration," says Mr. Chehardy.

David Sherman says that "the Firm is so very proud of Lawrence. It is a tremendous honor to have our newly elected Governor appoint him Chairman of one of the State's most important commissions. It demonstrates the tremendous trust and respect Governor Edwards has for him and his abilities."

The Louisiana Tax Commission is the supervisory agency over Louisiana’s assessors. It hears appeals from the local assessments made by the local assessors. Additionally, it values and assesses all public service properties in the state, as well as creates, maintains and updates the manuals used by assessors and promulugagtes the general rules and regulations that the state’s 64 assessors follow in assessing property. The commission is composed of five members, one from each of the state’s five public service commission districts.
