Ms. Courtney Papale Newton grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was awarded a scholarship to attend the University of New Orleans where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. During her time at the University of New Orleans, Ms. Newton was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity serving as President for one year. While at the University of New Orleans, Ms. Newton also received the University of New Orleans Ambassador Award and Scholarship, which granted her the opportunity to study at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, for several months.

Following graduation from the University of New Orleans, Ms. Newton attended the Louisiana State University Paul M. Hebert Law Center earning a Bachelor of Civil Law Studies and a Juris Doctoratein 2004. She also attended the University of Aix-Marseille III Law School in France during the summer of 2002. She was admitted into the Louisiana Bar on October 15, 2004.

Ms. Newton first practiced law at a defense litigation law firm in New Orleans, Louisiana. Thereafter, following Hurricane Katrina, Ms. Newton, a military spouse, moved frequently living in Memphis, TN; Washington, D.C.; and NAF Atsugi, Japan. During this time, she worked as in-house counsel for Macquarie Mortgages USA, Inc.; a Communications Law Instructor; a middle school history teacher; and an ESL (English As A Second Language) sensei. Ms. Newton’s time in Japan ended abruptly in March 2011 due to the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, following which she evacuated and returned to Louisiana.

Ms. Newton’s practice includes personal injury; criminal matters; life and estate planning and successions; family litigation; commercial transactions and litigation; and, administrative law, an area of the law pertaining to professional and occupational state licensing boards, professional and occupational regulation, and professional and occupational licensees such as accountants, architects, chiropractors, dentists, physicians, and real estate agents.

Ms. Newton is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, serving as secretary-treasurer for the Administrative Law Section, and is a member of the Twenty-First Judicial District Bar Association. In addition, she presents education seminars to professional state licensing boards and professional associations in the area of professional regulation and ethics.
