Jesse P. Lagarde


Jesse P. LagardeA Louisiana native, Jesse P. Lagarde received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana State University in 2009, where he studied English literature, political science, and philosophy. Mr. Lagarde received his Juris Doctorate degree from Southern University Law Center in 2015. In addition to graduating Magna Cum Laude, he was a member of the SULC’s Law Review Journal, Maritime Law Society, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International. During his matriculation, Mr. Lagarde worked at both the state appellant court and federal district court as a judicial law clerk.

After his admission to the Louisiana Bar in 2015, Mr. Lagarde worked as a staff attorney at the 21st Judicial District Court, primarily in criminal, civil, and family law divisions. Mr. Lagarde then worked with the law firm of Seale & Ross, PLC in Hammond, before joining Chehardy Sherman Williams, where he practices in the areas of commercial transactions and litigation, debt collection and creditors’ rights, probate and succession litigation, estate planning, real estate, appellate proceedings, personal injury, and domestic litigation, ranging from custody disputes to divorce and community property settlement.

In addition to his practice, Mr. Lagarde serves as an officer of the 21st Judicial District Bar Association and is a member of the Florida Parish Inns of Court and the Louisiana Bar Association.

    • Seale & Ross, PLC, July 2016 – September 2017, Associate Attorney - Primary practice area involved all aspects of Domestic law, including appeals. Other areas of practice experience include successions, estate planning, title closings, medical malpractice, business litigation, and personal injury.

    • For Judge Brenda B. Ricks, Mr. Lagarde prepared bench memorandum for all civil litigation. Draft rulings on civil cases taken under advisement. For Judge Jeffery T. Oglesbee, he pepared bench memorandum by briefing issues exclusive to family law practice and observed domestic court litigation including in chamber status conferences.
    • US Middle District of Louisiana, Fall 2014, Legal Extern – For Judge James J. Brady, Mr. Lagarde researched motions and drafted rulings, wrote internal memoranda discussing particular legal issues and analyzed opinions of the federal magistrate judges in an appellant capacity.
    • Louisiana Court of Appeals, First Circuit, Summer 2014, Legal Intern – For Judge James J. Kuhn, Mr. Lagarde reviewed judicial reports for record consensus, citation research, and judgment editing.
    • Southern University Law Center, 2013 – 2015, Research Assistant – For Russell Jones, Vice Chancellor, Mr. Lagarde was responsible for editing and research for Harges and Jones: Louisiana Evidence (2013-2015).
