Steven Hayes has been a partner of Chehardy Sherman Williams since its founding in 1989. He is a Board-Certified Estate Planning and Administration Specialist and is Board Certified in Taxation.

With over 30 years of specializing in the practice areas of estate planning, wills, trusts, successions, and elder law, he has prepared more than 10,000 estate plans, handled thousands of successions and trusts, and assisted individuals and families in difficult situations and in litigated matters involving these areas. Mr. Hayes has been continuously named a Louisiana Super Lawyer and has been recognized by New Orleans Magazine as a Top Lawyer in elder law. As an expert in the field, he has contributed more than a dozen articles to the firm’s blog and written other pieces for publication. Mr. Hayes is also a frequent speaker on estate planning at hundreds of events for various organizations, including federal government employees, the Corps of Engineers, Financial Planner Association, Money Watch Live, Families Helping Families, and other organizations and continuing legal education seminars.

Mr. Hayes is a graduate of Pfeiffer College in North Carolina and earned his Masters of Business Administration and Juris Doctorate from Tulane University. He is a member of the American Bar Association, current Chairman of the Estate Planning Specialization Committee of the Louisiana State Bar Association, and a member of the New Orleans Estate Planning Council.
